About FixNoise

FixNoise is a small set of free tools for cleaning up recordings: removing background noise, removing hum, and setting the volume.

Why in the browser

Most audio clean-up sites upload your recording to their server, work on it there, and send it back. FixNoise does the work on your own computer instead. That means your recording stays private, there is no upload to wait for, and there is no limit on how many files you clean.

What it uses

• Noise removal uses DeepFilterNet, an open source neural network for speech, running inside your browser.
• Hum removal uses narrow filters placed on the mains frequency and its harmonics.
• Loudness is measured in LUFS the same way broadcasters and streaming services measure it (ITU-R BS.1770).
